Jurnal Ilmiah Komunikasi is a scientific journal established in 2008. The journal received its first print ISSN in 2012 (1979-8210), followed by its electronic ISSN in 2013 (2354-8193). Throughout its journey, Jurnal Ilmiah Komunikasi has published numerous scholarly articles and continued to develop in both quality and publication management. In 2018, the journal officially transitioned to an online publication system using the Open Journal System (OJS) by PKP, which has been maintained to this day.

In 2019, Jurnal Ilmiah Komunikasi achieved SINTA 5 accreditation from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. This recognition marked a significant milestone in the journal’s commitment to improving academic quality and contributing to the field of communication studies in Indonesia.
