Ceklist Prepare for Publications

  1. Does your manuscript comply with the minimum submission standards? (It must be written in either Bahasa Indonesia or English; the manuscript should be a minimum of 4 pages and not exceed 16 pages; references must be managed using tools such as EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero, and follow the Vancouver citation style.)
  2. Is your manuscript prepared according to the formatting guidelines of Jurnal Ilmiah Komunikasi (JIKOM)? At this stage, it is essential that your submission adheres strictly to the journal’s formatting requirements. Please ensure that your manuscript conforms as closely as possible to the prescribed format.
  3. Is your title appropriate and is your abstract written correctly? The title should be concise and informative, consisting of a maximum of 10 words and free from acronyms or abbreviations. The abstract (maximum 200 words) must be clear and informative—free from quotations—and should include a concise statement of the problem, the approach or proposed solution, and a summary of the main findings and conclusions.
  4. Authors are strongly encouraged to structure their manuscripts using the following format: Introduction – Proposed Methods / Algorithms / Specifically Designed Procedures (if applicable) – Results – Discussion – Conclusion – References.
  5. Authors are expected to situate their manuscripts within the appropriate scholarly context by citing relevant and recent literature. A minimum of 15 references, preferably from recent journal articles, should be included to support the academic foundation of the paper.
  6. Method section: the presentation of the experimental method must be clear and complete in every detail that facilitate reproducibility by other scientists.
  7. Results and Discussion Section: The presentation of results should be clear, concise, and focused on the most significant findings of the study. Authors are expected to report their findings using appropriate statistical analyses and, where relevant, compare them with results from previous studies. Results presented in figures do not need to be repeated in tables. In this section, authors should describe their findings in narrative form, highlisghting key insight and their implications. The discussion must be logically structured and supported by relevant and up-to-date references to strengthen the interpretation of the results.
  8. Conclusions: The conclusion should provide a concise summary of the main findings in a clear and coherent paragraph. It is important that the claims made in this section are directly supported by the results presented earlier in the manuscript. Authors should address whether the results align with the initial expectations and how they compare to previous research. Does the article support or challenge existing theories? Does the conclusion provide an explanation of how the research contributes to advancing the body of scientific knowledge in the relevant field?
  9. Please ensure that the manuscript is up-to-date. It is expected that 10 to 20% of the references should be drawn from recent publications.
  10. Is the manuscript written clearly? Does the article maintain an engaging and accessible tone? Does the content transition smoothly between sections? It is important to ensure that the manuscript is appropriately pitched for the intended audience. The explanations should be clear and understandable to qualified professionals, while avoiding the unnecessary explanation of well-established facts (make sure to use proper references where needed). Manuscripts often receive negative reviews when they are difficult to comprehend, and this is typically the responsibility of the authors, not the reviewers. It is essential to recognize that if a reviewer struggles to understand the manuscript, other readers will likely face the same challenges, and there is no reason to publish the manuscript.
  11. Do you have an adequate number of references? A minimum of 10 to 25 references is typically expected, especially for journal articles, depending on the length of the manuscript. Citations from textbooks should be used sparingly, and references to web pages should be avoided. It is essential that all cited works are appropriately referenced within the text of the manuscript.
